Because Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers is committed to providing the best available care to all of its patients, research is and will continue to be the cornerstone of the organization.
Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers has rapidly become one of the leading cancer research centers in the country. We began formally participating in research studies in 1997. Now, we are participating in over 100 ongoing clinical research trials in all major cancer types and have nearly 30 dedicated research staff.
Our participation has resulted in the FDA approval of 38 novel cancer therapies, and more than 5,000 of our patients have accessed these trials.
In 2006, our research program was recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology with their 2006 Clinical Trial Participation Award for our efforts to improve the quality of cancer care through participation in clinical trials.
The award is presented to oncology practices that increase awareness and participation in clinical trials in their community. The impressive advances in cancer treatment over the last 30 years can be traced directly to the clinical trials that evaluated new cancer therapies. Only 12 community oncology practices in the United States received this honor.
